Pop!
Grade 10
Pop Artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, and Robert Rauschenberg were inspired by popular culture, media, mass-production, and consumerism. Like Warhol’s soup cans and Oldenburg’s giant clothespin, their work celebrated everyday life and the everyday object.
This is a chance to create a work of art in a medium of your choice— collage, printmaking, sculpture, painting, chocolate— you name it! Your piece however, must be inspired by popular culture, consumerism, globalisation, media, branding, or anything that relates to a Pop Art theme. How are you affected by popular culture? Are you what you consume?
